Maple Leaf Strategies Welcomes New Strategic Advisor for Ontario

Toronto, Ontario – Maple Leaf Strategies, an expert public affairs, government relations and public opinion research consulting firm, today announced that seasoned public policy and government relations professional, Plamen Petkov, has been appointed Strategic Advisor for Ontario.

Plamen brings 20 years of business and lobbying experience and has been recognized for effectively leading compelling public policy campaigns on a myriad of business issues, among which taxation, government regulation and compliance, labour relations, energy and environmental policies.

Plamen started his career on Bay Street where he offered consulting services to some of the largest insurance, re-insurance and mutual fund institutions. He successfully developed and implemented strategies for corporate recruitment, business growth and succession planning.

Plamen then spent the last 15 years working at the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) – Canada’s leading organization, representing the interests of independent businesses at all three levels of government. As the Ontario Vice-President of Legislative Affairs, he was the lead lobbyist and spokesperson for the organization in the province. In representing the views and concerns of over 42,000 small and medium-sized businesses from virtually every sector of the economy, Plamen achieved numerous wins for independent businesses in Ontario and developed strong relationships with provincial politicians from all political parties.

Plamen holds an Honours Bachelor degree in international relations from York University, a Master’s of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and an MBA from Ivey School of Business.
