Karlis is an entrepreneurial professional with over a decade of business development, corporate strategy and cleantech investment experience.
His career’s foundation was formed as a management consultant with A.T. Kearney where he worked to help clients overcome diverse strategic challenges in the transportation, mining, banking and telecom sectors. Subsequently, he worked within several trailblazing Canadian clean technology companies driving strategy to commercialize new innovations and completing multiple equity and debt financings. Most recently he along with his business partners sold their waste industry services business to a US multinational firm. His career’s unique path has shaped a compelling combination of business, policy and capital mobilization expertise.
Karlis is an active contributor to his ethnic Latvian community. He was elected to the board of the Latvian Credit Union in 2016. In addition, he is a long-serving scout leader and a team manager with the Toronto Latvian Hockey Association.
Karlis completed his undergraduate degree in Commerce (B.Com.) at Queen’s University and earned a Master’s degree in International Public Policy (M.I.P.P), majoring in energy, resources and environment, from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC.
